My name is Edgardo Cervano-Soto and I’m a documentary film editor. With over 10 years of post-production experience across all editorial roles, I have built a career crafting nuanced, eye-opening, and culturally impactful documentaries. In 2006, I created my first documentary short video in high school on a community activists protesting against gun violence in my hometown. Since then, as an assistant editor I’ve worked on documentaries investigating price gouging in pharmaceuticals; a re-examination of a political scandal; and a spotlight on food systems across the world, among other films. As the co-editor of A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks, I received an 2022 Documentary and News Emmy nomination for Outstanding Editing. My work has premiered on major networks and streamers including Netflix, CNN, HBO Max, and A&E.
I am currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I am available for both in-person work in the Bay Area, and remote nation-wide.
I am available as a freelance editor (lead and co) for documentary films and television series.
I also offer story consultant work sessions by offering feedback on documentary structure and narrative.
